F.B.I. refers to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Federal law enforcement agency of the United States. As a govenment agency, the F.B.I. may obtain certain identifying information from consumer agencies. In addition, a special provision of the Fair Credit reporting Act, as amended, gives the F.B.I. specific rights in instances involving F.B.I. Counterintelligence Purposes.
