Prescreening

Consumer reporting agencies may make available to credit grantors and insurers access to lists of consumers meeting certain criteria for the purpose of making solicitations to consumers offering credit or insurance to that consumer. This practice is called "prescreening", because the consumers are selected or "screened" by the consumer reporting agency to meet criteria determined by the user. See special rules linked here.
