FTC Notice of Rights and Duties Summary

Section 607 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, as amended, requires that notices the rights of consumers and duties of users, furnishers and reporting agencies of consumer credit reports must be provided to any person "who regularly and in the ordinary course of business furnishes information to the agency with respect to any consumer; or ......to whom a consumer report is provided by the agency". A portion of Section 607 is reproduced here for illustration purposes only.

The Federal Trade Commission is required to prescribe the content of these notices, and a consumer reporting agency shall be in compliance with this subsection if it provides a notice that is substantially similar to the Federal Trade Commission notice.
