Furnishers Of Information. The Consumer Credit Reporting Reform Act of 1996 added, among other things, Section 623, with duties for furnishers of information to provide correct information. Furnishers may have duties to correct and update information, respond to disputes received from consumer and from consumer agency, report voluntary closure of accounts by consumers, and report a "date of delinquency", the starting date for certain consumer credit reporting purposes.
