A portion the FTC Official Staff Commentary for the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act reproduced here for illustration purposes only, includes the following: "If a creditor falsely uses an attorney's name rather than his own in his collection communications, he both loses his exemption from the FDCPA's definition of "debt collector" (section 803(6) and violates this provision."
