Administrative Enforcement

Section 814 provides that the Federal Trade Commission is the primary federal enforcement agency for the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, but assigns enforcement power to other authorities empowered by certain federal statutes to regulate financial, agricultural, and transportation activities, where the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violations relate to acts subject to those laws. Reports to Congress by the Commission

At one year intervals, the Federal Trade Commission must make reports to the Congress concerning the administration of its functions under this subchapter, including such recommendations as the Commission deems necessary or appropriate. In addition, each report of the Commission shall include its assessment of the extent to which compliance with this subchapter is being achieved and a summary of the enforcement actions taken by the Commission.
