| The court system in Colorado consists of the Supreme Court,
Court of Appeals, District Court and County Court. Credit and collection action are
generally determined by the District Court and County Court.
- District Court: Colorado is divided into twenty-two (22) judicial
districts. The district courts have original jurisdiction on all matters at law and in
equity. (C.R.S. 13-5-101, et seq.)

County Court: The County Court has concurrent original jurisdiction with
the district court in civil actions, suits, and proceedings in which the debt, damage, or
value of the personal property claimed do not exceed $10,000.00. (C.R.S. 13-6-104.)
Small Claims Court: The small claims court has concurrent original
jurisdiction with the county and district courts in all civil actions in which the debt,
damage, or value of the personal property claimed by either the plaintiff or the
defendant, exclusive of interest and cost, does not exceed $5,000.00. (C.R.S.
13-6-403.)
