Fair Debt Collection Practices:

The Administrative Rules and Regulations of the State of Georgia, Rules 12-1-14-1 throught 12-1-14-24 proscribe debt collector activites which constitute unlawful practice of law, threats or coercion, unreasonable publication, fraudulent, deceptive or misleading representations, and unfair and unconsionable debt collection practices. Rules 12-1-14-25 and 12-1-14-26 impose responsibilities, liabilities, and penalties upon creditors for activities of debt collectors engaged by them in the collection of debts from consumers, and require creditors to obtain from debt collectors certification of compliance with these Administrative Rules and Regulations.
