Collection Agency Licensing Requirements:

The Louisiana Collection Agency Regulation Act set forth the licensing requirements which a collection agency must comply before conducting collection business in the State of Louisiana.  (R.S. 9:3576.1 et. seq.)  To be eligible for a collection agency license, an applicant must be 18 years of age and of good character and reputation, have never been convicted of any crime which may impose a penalty of imprisonment at hard labor, have not had a prior collection agency license revoked.   A license fee and the filing of a surety bond in the sum of $10,000 are required.   Licensing information and application may be obtained from:
