Things With Wheels and Things That Float The state of Michigan requires that all motor vehicles, trailer coaches, trailers weighing 2,500 pounds or more unladen, off-road vehicles, pickup campers, and certain watercraft must be titled. An owner of a vehicle subject to registration under this act must apply to the secretary of state, upon an approved form, for registration and issuance of a certificate of title for vehicle. 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," section 217, (MCL 257.217), section 217 as amended
Rebuilt, Salvage Or Scrap Since January 1, 1994, a vehicle brought into Michigan from another state or country which issued a rebuilt, salvage, scrap, or comparable certificate of title, is issued a rebuilt, salvage, or scrap certificate of title by the secretary. 1949 PA 300, entitled "Michigan vehicle code," section 217, (MCL 257.217), section 217 as amended
Applications for motor vehicle titles, registrations and license plates are processed by   Michigan Department of State branch offices. Proof of Michigan no-fault insurance is required to register a motor vehicle.
