Court System:

The Nebraska court system consists of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, District Court and County Court. Matters involving credits and collection are generally within the jurisdictions of the District Courts and County Courts:
 

District Court: This court has original jurisdiction on all matters. (Section 24-302.)
 
County Court: Civil matters with an amount in controversy not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00). (Section 24-517(4).)
 
Small Claims Court: The Small Claims Court is a division of the County Court and has jurisdiction over claims in an amount up to two thousand one hundred dollars ($2,100.00) exclusive of interest and costs. (Section 25-2801, et seq.) The number of claims filed by an individual generally is limited to no more than two (2) within any calendar week, and no more than ten (10) within any calendar year.
 

Each court requires payment of a fee when a new action is filed. The filing fees for each of these courts are:
 

District Court: $40.00 (Section 33-106.)
County Court: $40.00 (Section 33-106)
Small Claims Court: $ 5.00 (Section 25-2804(2).)
