Court System:

The court system in Nevada consists of the Supreme Court, District Court, Municipal court, and Justices' Court.  Credit and collection cases are determined by the District Court and the Justices' Court.

    District Court:   The District Court has original jurisdiction on all civil and criminal cases.  (NRS 4.370.)

    Justices' Court:  The Justices' Court has jurisdiction over actions arising on contract where the amount in controversy does not exceed $7,500.00 exclusive of interest.  (NRS 4.370.)

    Small Claims Court:  The Small Claims is a division of the Justices' Court and has jurisdiction over money claims in which the amount in controversy does not exceed $3,500.00, and the defendant must reside or employed or does business in the township in which the action is filed.  (NRS 73.010.)
