Court System:

The court system in Oklahoma consists of the Supreme Court, Court of Civil appeals, and the District Court.  Credit and collection cases are generally determined by the District Court.

District Court:  Under Article VII, § 7, of the Oklahoma Constitution, the District Court has unlimited original jurisdiction of all justiciable matters.

Small Claims Procedure Act:  The Small Claims procedure may be used in actions for the recovery of money based on contract or tort, including subrogation claims, in which the amount in controversy, exclusive of attorneys fees and other court costs, does not exceed $4,500.  However, collection agency, collection agent, or assignee of a claim are not permitted to bring any action under this procedure.  (12-1751, et seq.)
