Court System:

The court system in Utah consists of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, District Court and Justice Court.  Credit and collection cases are generally determined by the District Court.

District Court:   The district court has original jurisdiction over all civil and criminal cases.  (Utah Code 78-3-4.)

Small Claims Court:  The Small Claims Court has jurisdiction over money claims where the amount claimed does not exceed $5,000 including attorney fees, but exclusive of court costs and interest. (Utah Code 78-6-1.)

See the great Utah State Courts Website which explains the state court system, and supplies contact information for all state courts, linked here.
