Court System:

 

The court system in Wyoming consists of the Supreme Court, District Court, County Court, and Justice of the Peace Court.  Credit and collection cases are determined by the District Court, County Court, and Justice of the Peace Court.

    District Court:   The district court has general jurisdiction over all civil and criminal cases.  (WS 5-3-101, et seq.)

    County Court:  The County Court has exclusive original civil jurisdiction over all cases involving money or property with a value not to exceed $7,000.00 exclusive of court costs.  (WS  5-5-131.)

    Justice of the Peace Court/Small Claim Court:  These courts have jurisdiction over all  civil actions where the amount in controversy, exclusive of costs, does not exceed $3,000.00.  (WS 5-4-106, W.S. 1-21-201 through 1-21-205.)
